HUT… HUT… HIKE!!! That time of the year is approaching fast, where people gather around the living room, a bar, or any T.V. screen they can find to watch two teams duke it out to win the Super Bowl Championship. Yes, I know loyal Coloradans, we are all saddened that the Broncos did not make it this year… However, the excitement of the Super Bowl with all your buddies, loaded nachos, and flowing beer will make it a great day to celebrate the sport of good ol’ American Football. The two teams this year going head-to-head in the Super Bowl LIII are the New England Patriots and the Los Angeles Rams. The coin will be tossed in Atlanta, on February 3rd, 2019 at 4:30PM MST. Generally, the Breckenridge locals stand true to “bleeding blue and orange,” but this year we will have to make an exception. All of the bars in town this weekend will be super lively for ‘Sunday Funday.’ From a local, here are some of the best places in town to enjoy the big day!

Top Sports Bars and Restaurants for Super Bowl LIII

Downstairs at Eric’s

This sports bar and restaurant is truly legendary in Breckenridge. It has been around since 1989 and still crushes it. As you descend into the restaurant from the middle of Main Street you will quickly receive a fun, exciting, gaming, and sports vibe. The arcade room is a blast and can come in handy if you are waiting to be sat at a table, which does happen at this very popular place. Nonetheless, for the Super Bowl, Eric’s is fully equipped with 29 flat screen HDTV TV’s, which means you can watch the game from practically anywhere in the place. The TV I recommend trying to view the game from is the new one they put behind the Bar. The TV is absolutely massive, and you gain front row seats to their huge variety of 30 beers on tap, friendly bartenders, as well as, very animated fans.  My biggest recommendation to you is to order their pizza. All of the different flavors are super tasty, especially their Oaxacan Pizza, and their garlic wheat crust is one that you will continue to dream about. Get their early for the Super Bowl because Eric’s will fill up!

Stinky Boot Saloon

This brand-new hidden gem is a splendid addition to the Breckenridge restaurant fleet! The Stinky Boot Saloon is located in the Grand Timber Lodge, which is up Snowflake Drive. The location of this new restaurant is super awesome because after your day of skiing up on the hill, you can ski right down Four O’clock to the Stinky Boot Saloon! For the Super Bowl, the epic way to enjoy the entire Sunday Funday would be to carve some turns all day and then ski right up to the entrance of the Stinky Boot around kick off time to enjoy Happy Hour (2:30-5:30PM daily) and the big game. The restaurant has installed multiple, large flat screen tv’s, which will make watching the Super Bowl very convenient. The atmosphere is set for a championship game, as the owners believe “every boot has a story; one of adventure, challenge, or even championship.” While sitting there, munch on their mouth-watering Tator Tots and Queso; they will not disappoint!

Burke & Riley’s Irish Pub

Want to throw back car bombs and kick it with a local crowd? Head on down to the south end of Main Street to Burke and Riley’s Irish Pub for the Super Bowl. Tons of local’s flock to this awesome spot for raw, fun vibes, and sports. There are several TV’s in the place for your viewing needs and Happy Hour is from 3pm-6pm daily! They have an awesome selection of grub, from burgers, traditional Irish meals, wraps, and sandwiches. My favorite food that I highly recommend to you this Sunday is the “Luck of the Irish Combo,” mainly for the superb Battered Mac & Cheese Wedges. The TV’s are smaller here for the big game, but the local atmosphere is unbeatable!

Coppertop Bar and Café

Now, this is a place where locals and tourists truly come together to enjoy the good times! Coppertop Bar and Café is located on the 3rd floor above the café at the base of Beaver Run. It is a local favorite for the outstanding Happy Hour each day and the mountainous views from the upper deck. For the Super Bowl, Coppertop Bar and Café is hosting a Super Bowl Party with a bunch of awesome specials for the big game! Make it over to the base for $12 wings and Nachos, as well as, $10 beer and shot combos! Also, at the Base Nine they will be doing the same drink and food specials, along with free billiards and darts. This will be a great party for the Sunday Super Bowl extravaganza!

Windy City Pizza and Pub

Windy City has really made a name for itself with its live music, delicious pizza, bar bites, and local following. It is located in the same complex as the City Market, which makes the parking situation convenient and FREE (Don’t forget that Breckenridge Free Ride is always Convenient and free!) Windy City has a low-key vibe normally, but things might get revved up with the Super Bowl! The restaurant is hosting a Super Bowl party where $15 gets you an all you can eat ticket during the game! Drink specials and games will be offered throughout the night, which will definitely make for an exciting Sunday evening.

Flip Side

Flip Side is one of the newer burger joints on Breckenridge Main Street. You can enjoy awesome burgers, unique bar grub, and boozy milkshakes. My two guilty pleasures at this spot are the flavorful cheese curds and the brownie milkshakes with espresso vodka! Don’t miss either if you decide to hit the Flip Side on Super Bowl Sunday! Also, for the Super Bowl Flip Side is offering huge specials! They will be doing $2.00 Coors Lights and $2.00 off of appetizers. The restaurant is equipped with 10 solid size TV’s and the sound will be tuned into the big game!

Watch the game at home, while enjoying food from some of the best restaurants from town.
