Tastings and Tours for our boozy connoisseurs in Breckenridge, Co!

Tastings and Tours are two excellent activities to throw into the fun aspect of visiting, or living in Breckenridge, CO! Various businesses have set up awesome opportunities for people to indulge in their Breckenridge crafted beverages! This activity is somewhat short in duration of time; thus, you can still squeeze plenty of other activities into your day!

Carboy Winery

Modern vibes of the Carboy Winery collide eloquently with the old town Breckenridge décor. The Carboy Winery prides themselves on hand selecting delicious and high-quality grapes to create over 20 different wines to choose from. The company has also committed to utilizing the system of tap wine, which keeps the wine from aging and assists in better sustainable practices. The tap wine system is super modern and can seem foreign to our wine lovers. However, I think in Breckenridge where recycling glass is already extremely tough it is a great new way to serve the beverage. Carboy Winery loves to open up their doors for tastings and tours!

-The winery has three different flights to choose from to hit every wine lover’s palate: a white wine flight ($11), red wine flight ($12), and a winemaker’s flight ($15).

-They give tours throughout the day and you are able to make a private reservation to enhance your tour experience.

-They have happy hour from 3-6 each day and have a Wine Club rewards program, which entails buying 6 glasses of wine to receive a 7th one free.

Hours:

Mon.-Thurs. 3pm-9pm

Fri.-Sun. 12pm-9pm

Broken Compass Craft Brewery

Broken Compass is a brewery that has truly embraced the small, mountain atmosphere. The room automatically has a sense of community when you walk in due to the large tables, old ski lift chairs used as benches, a large bar, and a huge book shelf of games. These aspects to the craft room produce a lively atmosphere with a lot of socializing. Behind the bar there are 12 taps to choose from for your beer tasting enjoyment! Broken compass sells flights, brew by the glass, and growlers, so that you can relish in all of their beers. I highly recommend their refreshing “Nitro Irish Red,” or if you like the bold hops I would go for the “Snow Blind Double IPA.” The tap room is on the smaller side of tap rooms, however if you book a tour and they can fit you in, you can learn a lot from these brewers! The brewery opens up to a beautiful outdoor space during the summer for cornhole games, acoustic sets on Sundays, and on Tuesday nights they test your knowledge with Trivia Night (all the details always available at BreckInsider).

Don’t worry about overindulging here! Broken Compass offers a free shuttle for their customers! Shuttle service opens at 12pm every day and runs until at least 8pm on weekdays and later on Friday – Sunday. Just call (970) 406-2011.

Breckenridge Distillery

‘O man has this place grown and developed into an incredible booze creating machine!’ The Breckenridge Distillery has taken their awesome success to produce even better flavors that will zing your taste buds and make you feel alive in Breckenridge! I remember when the company started out small, with a landscaping business across the parking lot area! Nevertheless, in just a few years the company expanded tremendously to create the awesome distiller room, bar, and restaurant that it is today! With the enormous expansion, the tour the company offers is something you must experience! The staff is fun and very knowledgeable about their distiller room! This makes the tour exciting and interesting at the same time. Also, you get to taste all of their booze before buckling into the tour, which is the amazing aspect of it all The tours are free and are set up on a first come, first-serve basis. They happen on the hour and half an hour, 7 days a week! After 2pm the demand for tours gets a little more hectic, so I would plan for a boozy lunch. After the doors close, Breckenridge Distillery offers private VIP tours of up to 20 people. I hear these are awesome and worth the extra dollar if you genuinely appreciate the process of Distilling. (Up to 10 ppl=$200, up to 20 ppl=$300)

Hours:

Sun.-Thurs. 11am-9pm

Fri. 11am-10pm

Sat. 11am-10pm

Continental Divide Winery

This comfortable and warm-hearted winery is an awesome place to check out this summer! The Continental Divide Winery is Colorado proud and has developed a very relaxing atmosphere for tasting their wines! The tasting room is located in Main Street Station, and during the summer they open up a nice deck to indulge in the grape, with a view! To taste their wines, CDW does not require a reservation and they allow for friendly, furry pets! In 2018 the company received the “Peak of Sustainability” award for receiving the highest available score for sustainability program-wide. Also, the company started a Wine Blending night for their customers that want to try creating their own flavor of wine! It is a super fun experience that lasts about two hours and can be set up in groups of 14 or less! The flavors and aromas of these wines are not to be missed!
