Alleviate Your Stress this Off-Season in Breckenridge

In Best of Breckenridge by Ellie Hartman

A perfect way to spend your day relieving stress this May!

‘Man, o man’ I think we can all agree that the winter season can be one stressful time for Breckenridge! First of all, we can just start off with the numbers. With the permanent population of 4,901 (source: State Demographer 2017) and over 7.5 million visitors this season (source: Real Estate of the Summit 2016), the Breck locals are always on the move. Therefore, most people residing here are burning the candle on both ends, trying to maintain several jobs, attempting to keep up with the hustle and bustle, while sending it at night and enjoying everything the landscape has to offer.

This is why most locals can say that off-season is a wonderful spurt of stress relief!

For out-of-towners reading this blog, off-season (also affectionately known as “mud season”) is essentially the month of May and is an entire month that brings in fewer visitors, ultimately creating a period of time that’s slower in Breckenridge. Now, this year could be different with the Breckenridge Ski Resort extending their season to Memorial Day weekend. However, there are still less people in town, which means less work and more play!

The month of April was ‘Stress Awareness Month’, thus it is a great time to reflect on where our stressors resided this winter and how we can relieve them during off-season! It is critical to the stamina of our locals to relieve all the stress from the winter during May, in order to build up enough energy for the busy summer months ahead.

Here is an idea for a perfect day to relieve your stress during the muddy times, with inexpensive deals (check out our off-season restaurant guide here), great mental/physical health guidance, and very positive vibes!

Meta Yoga Studios

Meta Yoga Studios has a vibrant vibe right as you walk in. The professional yoga teachers are very welcoming and make the atmosphere feel centered and energized. Throughout the class your stress will continue to leave your system, especially with the view you get from inside the studio. This mud season you can enjoy the full class schedule at Meta! They will be transferring to the summer schedule starting May 1st, which will still provide the yogis with all your favorite classes. They will also have two special offers for purchase this off season: 10 Punch Pass (Transferable between other persons) for $108. Buy the entire Year-Long, 12-month Unlimited Pass on debit for $99 a month.Photo credit: Meta Yoga Studios

Bhava Yoga Studios

Bhava Yoga Studios is also a wonderful choice to relieve your stress at any time of the day! The yoga studio has a fresh, calming vibe, with a wood finish that makes you feel grounded. The professional yoga teachers are versatile and offer an array of classes. The studio is just off of main street (in Main Street Station) and definitely worth checking out! This off-season, in the next week or two, Bhava will have a flash sale of a 20 punch pass for $200. Call the studio for more details. Photo credit: Bhava Yoga Studio

Recreation Center

The newly remodeled recreation center would be an awesome place to start your morning off! With loads of different activities to choose, from it allows you to get some physical activity in at your own pace and place. They are doing a screaming deal for off-season that they refer to as, “Local’s Appreciation Month!” From April 22nd-May 31st you can purchase a 5-week full Rec Center Admission pass for only $50! Sitting by the BOEC

Take a little snack and drive on up or walk from town to the BOEC Lake, also known as the Sawmill Reservoir. When I was a kid, we called it the ‘Secret Lake’ because only the locals knew about the incredible spot. However, over the years it has become an outdoor sanctuary for both visitors and locals to enjoy! The lake’s incredible view will already relieve your boggled-up stress, but the surrounding Breckenridge peaks and rivers will add even more to the blissful experience. This place is hard for me to describe in perfect words, so just go check it out, even if you have already!  **No Admission Required. Photo credit: Ellie Hartman/BreckInsider

Enjoy a Spa Day

Set up a mid-day appointment, online or over the phone, for one of the incredible massages at Blue Sage Spa (on Main Street) or the Spa at Beaver Run! This will be sure to get rid of that extra stress you are mentally tugging on. Also at Beaver Run this off-season, they are making it easier for the community to indulge in their spa amenities (which also include complimentary wine): All services that are an hour or longer are all being offered at 25% Off. No other offers apply to this deal and the 24-hour cancellation fee still applies. This offer runs only through May! Photo Credit: The Spa at Beaver Run

Rocky Mountain Underground Back Bar

Rocky Mountain Underground has opened up their back area behind the bar! The back area has turf, a music stage and an outdoor ‘tiki-type’ bar! Get your competitive nature going before you hit this spot because you are most likely going to get roped into an intense game of cornhole! Photo Credit: Ellie Hartman/BreckInsider

Sunset at the Boreas Pass Overlook

I believe that the Boreas Pass Overlook has the best view of Breckenridge, especially when the town is painted in striking pink and yellow sunset colors! Thus, to finish out your day of stress relief, take the Breck Free Ride bus to the Summit Stage Free Bus up to the Boreas Pass overlook, or drive up there to really take in the scenery of the entire town! If you set up a chair and relax in the spring vibe you will love the energy you get from the Colorado sunset.  **No Admission Required. So lay back, relax, and enjoy some quiet time and lots of local fun during this off-season! Summer will be here in no time!
